Where’s best for your EV fleet to charge?
|
As fleets scale up electrification, one key question keeps coming up: where should your EVs charge to maximise efficiency and control costs? Let’s look at the options: Depot charging gives you full control over vehicle availability, charging schedules and energy costs - ideal if you want reliability. You’ll need to understand your site’s electrical capacity and consider how to finance the project. Home charging offers convenience and low-cost overnight charging for vehicles that are taken home, but depends on suitable parking and clear processes for installation and reimbursement. Public charging provides flexibility without infrastructure spend, but can come with variable pricing, reliability issues and limited predictability. For most organisations, a blended approach delivers the best balance of cost, convenience and operational resilience.
